Can you recognize a scam?

Cybersecurity is critical and we want to help you protect your accounts and personal information. There are many ways fraudsters and scammers try to access your information and accounts. Here are a few ways you can stop them:

  • Don't click on pop-ups, email attachments, or text messages, or answer phone calls if you aren’t expecting them. A common scam is using a phone number that appears to belong to a financial institution and the fraudster presents themselves as an employee of that institution, often their fraud department trying to confirm fraud.
  • Never provide or confirm any of your personally identifying information with someone over the phone, including your password or a one-time passcode. Always hang up and call back at the known number for your institution.
  • Never grant remote access to your computer.
  • Secure your cell phone account by setting up a PIN and multi-factor authentication.
